After I watched this OVA 7 month ago, only recently I started to watch the main series
Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki
These 3 OVAs (each OVA up to 6,7 episodes each) tells the story of Masaki Tenchi and his involvement with other matters such as space pirates,goddesses and alien races known as Jurai while juggling with the people around him (especially the women who have feelings for him)
Just like its spin off,the original series contains interesting plot with each OVA focus on certain issues as the 1st related to Ryoko origin and the introduction of the characters,2nd related to Jurai family matters and brief appearance of the Goddess Tokimi and last OVA regarding the true intentions of the goddesses and the epilog of the series.
Another spin off that comes from it is Tenchi Muyo! GXP which related to the series as you will notice some of the characters from it appeared in the OVA (especially during the hospital scene when Tenchi's mother Kiyone scribble the word 'baka' on Yamada Seina,the main character of the spin off at the hospital).
As expected from the director Masaki Kajishima, this is the series that start it all =D.
